Amarillo Angels

“We are so incredibly grateful to the 100 Women Who Care in the Texas Panhandle!  Their incredible investment in the lives of those experiencing foster care in our area is a beautiful picture of community members tangibly supporting those who are experiencing foster care in our area.

This kind and incredibly generous gift will go directly to support and champion children and youth in the foster care community, laying the foundation for their own success stories.  This gift will help provide steady ground where children and youth can reach their potential and live out their dreams.  The support of this amazing group will make an invaluable difference.

When individuals like them come together and invest financially, powerful and sustainable change becomes possible Generational change becomes possible.  Lives will be changed.” – Gwen Hicks, Executive Director of Amarillo Angels

On September 24, 2024, The Texas Panhandle 100 Women Who Care hosted their members to a Beach Bash,” at Shark Beach in Amarillo, Texas. Thank you to our Sponsors: Cornerstone Synergy, The Office of Sherwood and Sherwood, J and D Auto Parts, Williams Farms, and the Panhandle Herald all Panhandle businesses. Special thanks to Samantha Henderson Photography for capturing the evening with photos.

Over 125 Women from the Texas Panhandle attended the meeting that began with a social hour complete with Shark Beach Burgers and entertainment provided by the talented Dean Yates of Amarillo.

The next hour began with a presentation from Brenda Robinson, Charlee Robinson and Benley Blackburn on the work they completed in Guatemala with the mission Isaiah 58:10, the recipient of the previous donation. Three members presented their nominated non-profit organizations. All members voted for the organization of their choice and Amarillo Angels was selected to receive the donation.

On October 15, 2024, Amarillo Angels were presented with a collective giving of over 150 women, totaling $15,500. Quoting a founding member of The Texas Panhandle Women Who Care, “It was so amazing going to Amarillo Angels to deliver the donation. They were so very thankful and could not believe the size of the donation. Everyone got a little teary eyed. It made me feel so proud to be a member of this amazing group!”

Since its inception in 2017, Amarillo Angels mission is to walk alongside children, youth, and families in the foster care community by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship.

When families are matched with committed volunteers who show up monthly, parents feel supported, and children gain a greater sense of normalcy, relational permanency, and self-confidence. This support also leads to increased placement stability, reducing the high rate of turnover that often occurs in the foster care system.

Funds from the financial gift will be used to power the Love Box® program and Dare to Dream® mentoring program. These programs provide direct support and serve children, youth, and families with a foster care or kinship license in the top 41 counties of the Texas Panhandle.

Through 100 Women Who Care, we, as women in the Panhandle, are demonstrating the profound impact that collective giving can have on our community, embodying the spirit of generosity and camaraderie. As we come together, our actions speak volumes—proving that indeed, when women unite, they are stronger together.
